Often times a lab member moves on to work in another lab, graduates and leaves the University. In the case that a PI or Lab Manager needs to remove a lab member from their lab, iLab provides an easy solution.
BEST PRACTICE
DO NOT use the red x to delete a member from your lab. This will likely cause issues when there are outstanding charges for that member if core facilities have not yet billed.
DO use the end date user attribute to set an end date for a user within the lab.
In the Lab members and settings section on the Members tab in the PI’s lab, there is a list of members. To set the end date for a user:
- Navigate to the Members tab in the PI’s lab.
- Click the pencil icon at the end of the user’s row in the Lab members and settings table.
- Add an end date for the user that you need to remove from your lab.
- Click the Save button at the end of the users’ row.
When the end date is reached, the user’s membership will be archived and the user will no longer appear in the PI’s Lab members and settings table.
